Oil Solvent + Mediums
Oil painting solvents and mediums are used to control how oil colour behaves, allowing artists to adjust consistency, transparency, drying time and finish.
Solvents are typically used to thin paint and create lean, fluid layers—particularly in early stages—while mediums, often made from oils or resin blends, enrich the paint, increasing gloss, depth and flexibility.
Together they enable a wide range of techniques, from thin washes and glazing to thick, textured applications, while supporting stable, long-lasting paint films when used according to traditional layering principles.
